THE MISSION

FROM FABRIC TO REBIRTH:
THE CIRCULAR SOUL OF TEXTILES

Paraphrasing a thought by our distinguished fellow citizen Curzio Malaparte:
“Every person from Prato knows where the history of the world ends—in rags: glories and defeats.”

For us, the people of Prato, the concepts of circular economy and upcycling are not a recent trend, but something that is deeply rooted in our DNA.

As early as the mid-19th century, the technique—originating in early 19th-century England—of regenerating discarded garments through shredding developed in Prato. A practice that was refined over time, making Prato one of the most important textile centers in Europe, so much so that in the early 1960s the city ranked third in Italy for per capita income.

In this extraordinary manufacturing environment, Fratelli Conforti & Co. was founded in 1948— a company that has made recovery its core principle and the intelligent redistribution of materials its winning strength.

Over the decades, the company has built strong collaborations with some of the world’s most prestigious brands and manufacturers, collecting surplus production of high-quality fabrics in its warehouses.

Every week, tens of thousands of meters of Made in Italy fabrics are selected and sampled and, thanks to a widespread network of international clients and partners, find a new destination, restoring value to precious materials that would otherwise be destined for destruction.
